RP: Anakin's New Friend

"And mine along with it." Like he needs anymore excitement in his life.

He begins to walk down the hall towards the Council Rooms, trusting Anakin to fall into step with him.

"A ripple in the force? Any other sensation to go with it?" He tugs thoughtfully at his beard.

"And a thousand years is too recent to really be the old Old Republic," he mutters, more to himself than anything. "In fact, that would be about the time of the Ruusan Reformation and the apparent destruction of the Sith..." This would warrant some sort of research in the archives; now that they're free from any missions, he has nothing better to do, at any rate.

"Did she have a name?"

"I don't know. It was a surprise."

He sighs, "Dia'ndria Starfall. It didn't seem to raise any eyebrows on the Council." So despite Anakin's ignorance of history, at least that implied that she wasn't famous enough he should've recognized it.

[master_obiwan]

"I don't recognize the name, either. I take it she's still at the Temple?"

He's torn between wanting to go brush up on the particulars of the time period and running off to question this Sithling. At the same time, they're here at Dex's; perhaps the Besalisk has heard of any time travellers popping up around the galaxy?

"She's got a room there for now. I guess she'll move somewhere else eventually." Though it might be funny to see her stay there long term. Maybe the Temple would rub off on her a bit.

"You're not going to go interrogate her, are you?"

[master_obiwan]

A room at the Temple. Lovely. "Well, her permanent residence will be highly dependent upon how she conducts herself."

Raised brow, "Eventually, though I wouldn't quite call it an interrogation. Not really. I just have a few-" thousand- "questions to ask her. I'm curious to get a sense of what time period she believes she's from."

[I swear I hear Obi-Wan talking when I read his posts. <3]

"Where better for the Council to keep an eye on her?" without actually imprisoning her.

He leans back in the booth and stretches his legs out (just to Obi-Wan's side so he's not actually kicking the other man in the shins), "she has a double-bladed lightsaber," he says. You know, Obi-Wan, like the Sith you killed on Naboo. "She doesn't wear robes though," which even many of Sith seem to wear darker versions of what the Jedi do. "Too many layers."

[Oh good. I was thinking that I may have lost the tone a bit after so long. <3 And I can totes hear Anakin :D And Obi's comment about the lightsabre would be known by Anakin, as it comes from the handbook.]


He does frown a bit at the memory that is conjured at the mention of a double-bladed 'sabre, but Obi-Wan simply sighs. "Unfortunately, there is nothing inherently evil in that design for a lightsabre," he admits. "It's just not widely used by the Jedi anymore, and has somehow been appropriated by Dark Side enthusiasts. And as for her style of dress...." a shrug, "having only encountered two Sith in my lifetime, and not being familiar with older practices, I can't offer any commentary on that."

He pauses as FLO returns to refill their drinks. Once she's gone, he adds, "Really, the only way to figure out who and what she is, is to - as you so indelicately put it - interrogate her."

[alas, I don't have that book anymore. but I get the point :) ]

"Is it indelicate if I'm right?" he grins over the table at Obi-Wan and raises his drink slightly. "Still...it should be fun to see."

Because of course Anakin is going to be watching. Possibly with popcorn.

Obi-Wan grins in that way he has, like he knows something you don't.

"You assume I'm going to tell you when I choose to speak with her," he replies. "I could simply wait until our paths cross naturally, which means you'll have to spend every possible moment with her on the off-chance that you'll miss it if you don't."

Anakin's eyes widen.

They both know that isn't something Anakin is overly keen on doing. Even if Obi-Wan thinks Anakin goes off to race swoop bikes somewhere or something instead of visiting a particular Senator in 500 Republica.

And then he settles again slightly, ready to play the game. "Maybe we'd get a lot of sparring practice then."

"Not that you really need the practice," he says nonchalantly, "but with the Sithling, you'll at least get a more rounded exercise in honing your wit. Maybe even get good enough to teach me a lesson or two?" He's full-on teasing now, his smile one of deep amusement and laughter.

[morally_cryptic]

"You know, I do think I remember you once complimenting me on my wit, Obi-Wan. Surely you haven't forgotten already?"

You know, in his implied old age.

[master_obiwan]

"Only because your lightsabre skills were appalling by comparison; seems you took my previous advice to heart and your fighting has now surpassed your wit. One must remain in balance, you know."

Yes, he's enjoying this. It's been too long since they've had the time or the opportunity to banter without blaster bolts flying overhead.

[morally_cryptic]

"I guess it's good I have someone new to practice with, then. Perhaps she'll teach me things I don't already know."

Silly Obi-Wan, Anakin already knows All The Things.

[master_obiwan]

"That shouldn't be too hard." He smiles and swigs a mouthful of whatever he's drinking. "In all seriousness, though, we really ought to figure out who she really is and where she comes from."

Leave it to Obi-Wan to bring it back around to business.

"Maybe she never made it into the Archives."

Nothing she'd told him led him to believe that she was or thought of herself as someone who had made a very large mark on the galaxy, after all. Though the Archives did contain all sorts of things one wouldn't necessarily expect.

[master_obiwan]

"Perhaps, though a foray into the archives at this point is simply to make sure we know as much as, or more than, she claims to know. Once Dex gets a free moment, I'm planning to ask him if he's ever heard of people traveling through time. If anyone's heard of it, it would be him."

Obi-Wan's still not entirely convinced that Dia is truly time-displaced, despite the fact that he's not having any luck in trying to explain away Anakin's sudden experience of her through the Force prior to their meeting.

"If Dex laughs at the idea are you going to buy us dessert too?" Anakin grins slightly. At least he isn't disagreeing that the whole thing sounds ridiculous.

[I suddenly feel like this conversation should end up wrapping up with Obi getting ready to head to the archives and Anakin attempting casually suggest he might go swing by the Senate to see Padme to say hi to the Chancellor after he drops Obi off back at the Temple.]

"Yes, I'll buy desert, too," he replied with a mock eye-roll. "And if he doesn't?"


[thats what I was thinking. Of course, Obi would remind Anakin not to tell anyone about Dia until they figure wth is going on.]

Anakin frowns. Mostly as if he has to think hard about it, even though they both know he had to be anticipating the response. "I guess we won't get any dessert."

[Anakin is offended Obi-Wan thinks he has to remind him. =P]

[master_obiwan]

The look on Anakin's face has Obi-Wan smili again, this time in a warmer, fonder way. "Or we could have dessert regardless. Force knows it's been one of those days."


[Obi-Wan says Anakin gets excitable and tends to forget things. Hence the constant reminders.]

"Let me guess," he says, a smile growing on his own face, "berries and cream?"

He's fairly certain Dex keeps them special for Obi-Wan's visits.

[master_obiwan]

The comment draws a laugh out of the elder Jedi. "Unless you have a different suggestion?" he replies.

"It would be cruel of me to deprive you," Anakin smirks.

[master_obiwan]

[Cheeky bastard <3]

"By that logic I will be deprived in either case; the one would deprive me of my usual indulgence, and the other will deprive me the opportunity to expand my horizons."

Trust Obi-Wan to make dessert complicated.

"A compromise, then, that would satisfy both needs." And so, when FLO returns he's ordering the oft-mentioned berries and cream, along with zoochberry cobbler and denta bean ice cream.
