TM: Hidden
Oct. 3rd, 2006 08:51 amIt was funny how things worked out. Here was a boy who could very well be the saviour of them all, yet nothing could be done about it. He couldn't be trained, because the disturbance within the Force would draw the Empire like hawkbats to granite slugs. He couldn’t be told the truth of his past, because Force knew he'd end up having a temper like his father, and he'd end up doing something rash. He couldn't associate with anyone from the past because he might not believe that discretion is the better part of valour, and demand why they couldn't advertise the fact that opposition was available in the form of the Jedi.
No, he had to remain a secret until the last possible moment, just as Obi-Wan knew he had to keep his distance from the child. The aunt and uncle, the child's foster-parents, had been quite adamant about that. Or, rather, the uncle had been. The aunt had given the Jedi the impression that she wouldn't mind a bit of help with a Force-sensitive child. But what was done was done, and Obi-Wan, as Luke, would have to stay in the shadows until the time was right. Luke would seek him out, he knew, and only when the galaxy was ready for certain events to be put into motion.
In the mean time, Obi-Wan would be the silent guardian, hiding in the darkness and keeping the family safe from prying eyes, as the last and possibly the greatest of the Jedi was allowed to grow up.
