Malachor V hung behind the armada of the Confederacy of Independant Systems. The defence net would capture anyone trying ot intrude on the CIS's occupation of the Mandalorian world. Anyone, that is, that didn't have the proper IF/F codes and transmission verifications. Obi-Wan said a silent prayer to the Force as he flipped a few switches in his shuttle that would emit a false profile that would match with the CIS IF/F code that Tarand had provided him with. He also prayed for Tarand, for if these codes and verifications fell through, the Sith would emerge and...do something drastic to the Administrator.

He began his approach along a Force-given path that would rouse the least amount of suspicion. He was close enough to the juggernaughts that he could see the guns turn on him; he winced and sturggled to wrap himself in serenity This take down needed to be done firmly as his Jedi self, or else he would be further deemed as unstable by the Jedi. He could not afford that. So serenity he sought as he ran the gauntlet, easing once more into his Bounty Hunter persona as the codes got him through. He only thought of how close Tarand had come to losing his life for a brief instant.

The planet's atmosphere buffeted him as he sluiced through the clouds, scanning for an out-of-the-way place to land. He found it in an out-of-the way valley, that would give him a bit of a hike to the Trayus Academy, but that was all right.

***********

The Trayus Acadamey was on minimal guard. This boaded well for the Bounty Hunter who stalked the halls. It meant that he was undetected.

The further in Khulir went, the less his opposition became. Dooku had become arrogant indeed, if he thought that anyone would have been killed before getting this far. He must also hold himself in high-esteem as far as skills go. His over-confidence will be his undoing...

The Crescent was silent as the Bounty Hunter slunk from shadow to shadow. Just because it seemed deserted didn't mean he had to give up caution all together. After all, the Sith were sneaky.

Khulir paused near the door that led to the antechamber of the Trayus Core, and heard voices beyond. The distinct laughter of Dooku could be heard as a lightsabre ignited. Another one followed, and Khulir risked drawing on the Force to hear the conversation within. He was instantly taken aback, and almost dropped the Bounty Hunter persona as the voice that followed filtered through the door.

"You will never escape this time, Dooku!" Anakin's rough Outer-Rim accent with the power and authority of the Jedi behind it resonated within the center of Khulir that held the identity of Obi-Wan.

Damn! He beat me here. How in all the Sith hells did he manage that? But this was no time for questions, save one: Did he go in there as Khulir, knock Anakin out and collect on the bounty, or did he go in there as Obi-Wan and help the young Jedi win this battle in the last heart of darkness for the Sith, risking death at the hands of the righteous lad? He listened to clash and parry of the duel for a long moment, hand hovering over the opening mechanism. What to do, indeed.

All too soon he heard the thump! of flesh and bone hitting a wall and falling limp to the ground. Then Dooku's voice, that deep, distinctive rumble, saying something in amusement. In that instant, Obi-Wan made up his mind, pulled Khulir around him and palmed open the door just as Dooku was raising his lightsabre for the killing blow.

Khulir's silver blade met Dooku's red in the middle of the downward arc, as the Bounty Hunter used his innate knowledge of the Pure Force to prevent the murder of an unarmed man. The Sith looked up, shock clearly registered on his features. His mouth turned into a sneer of hatred as he saw the blazing eyes beneath the hood.

"You. You were supposed to be dead." The outrage and contempt that bled from Dooku's words spoke of how little the Sith knew about the true fate of the supposed Jedi now standing before him.

"No. I'm sorry, but I am very much alive." Khulir pushed Dooku away and into the center of the room. "This ends here, now."

"So be it, Kenobi. It ends. But it will end with your death, followed by that of your young apprentice."

"I have no apprentice," he snarled.

The Bounty Hunter advanced on the Sith Lord so uquickly that the first strike forced Dooku to stumble back. It took only a moment for the Sith to bring his red blade to bear upon the Bounty Hunter's silver shaft of energy. The impact sent sparks into the air, the clash was deafening.

The stink of ozone rose as the two battled furiously, strikes and blocks impossible to see in the whirlwind of red and silver. Both Hunter and Sith gave and took ground at a lightining pace, neither wasting any movements nor letting the other have the advantage. Wherever Dooku's blade was, so too was Khulir's; Not one blow ever connected with flesh and the combatants began to feel the strain. Energy began to flag as the fight, which had began in earnest, slowed and it soon became apparent that it was a stalemate; if someone didn't act soon, the result would be severe injury for both parties.

Just as Khulir was about to draw on the infinite energy reserves he held within the Force, Dooku sprang back from the engagement and ran towards the door that led to the Trayus Core. Reaching out a hand the Sith grasped the door with the Force and flung it open, revealing the dark void that lay behind. Khulir was hot on his heels.

The Sith Lord disappeared over the threshold and moments later, Khulir joined him.

In the Trayus antechamber, Anakin Skywalker cursed under his breath, as he rubbed the back of his skull. He had awoken too late to take care of both Dook and Obi-Wan and thus restore the galaxy with one fell blow. Igniting his sabre, he ran into the Core and skidded to a stop.

Dooku and Obi-Wan were nowhere to be found...
